Here are the finalized birdhouses. In class we used a lasercutter to engrave the front of the birdhouse and paint was used to decorate some of the birdhouses. This first project was to learn how to using handtools (chisels, handsaws, hammer) and to complete a project from design to finish. For most of the students this was the first time they ever worked with wood.

Students get some great hands-on experience using many of the different tools in our Woodshop. From planning projects to executing them with safety in mind, these students are able to practice not only practical skills, but critical thinking skills as well.
